Course Description



The BA (Hons) in Business Management programme awarded by Anglia Ruskin University through London School of Marketing is designed to encourage the development of these essential skills. You will learn how to critically evaluate key business models and apply them to a real-life problem at a strategic level by conducting your very own research project.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Level 3 Diploma in Business Management or GCE/GCSE or equivalent overseas qualifications 
  • Mature learners (over 21) with relevant work experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)
  • If the learner is not from a majority English-speaking country, they must provide evidence of English language competency at a minimum of CEFR (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level B1 from a recognised English test provider or IELTS level 4.0 in each components.

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE

 1st Term- Level 4 Diploma in Business Management

 Duration: 6- 9 Months

The OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Business Management consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Research and Academic Writing (20 credits): enables learners to develop effective research plans, to evaluate different research methods, to use a high standard of academic writing, and to use independent learning techniques to support their self-development.

Business Environment (20 credits): develops learners’ understanding of the dimensions of the business environment, including various business types and purpose.

Introduction to Business Communication (20 credits): enhances learners’ business communication skills and enable them to operate confidently in the business world. Learners will be able to:

  • make persuasive presentations
  • negotiate convincingly
  • write reports that address and/or solve strategic problems
  • write promotional material
  • enhance their cultural awareness
  • enhance their understanding of cross-cultural communication, and the role of languages in business.

Introduction to Quantitative Methods (20 credits): reviews the basic concepts in mathematics, algebraic equations, graph construction, matrix algebra and probability that need to be understood by all business learners. The emphasis rests on applying these concepts to a variety of mathematical problems encountered in business contexts.

Introduction to Business Functions (20 credits): develops learners’ understanding of businesses types and various external influences on organisations such as the comparative environmental framework.

Introduction to Finance (20 credits): develops learners’ understanding of the current regulations governing financial reporting, as well as the purpose and formats of financial statements for different users.

 2nd Term- Level 5 Diploma in Business Management

Duration: 6- 9 Months

The OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Business Management consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Human Resource Management (20 credits): introduces learners to Human Resource theory and skills that underpin Human Resource Management (HRM) practices through a range of case studies.

Project Management (20 credits): develops learners’ understanding and skills relating to the project management principles, methodologies, tools and techniques that are used in business.

Strategic Marketing (20 credits): provides learners with a detailed understanding of the marketing planning process and to apply these principles to a variety of business contexts. The unit also provides a comprehensive understanding of environmental analysis and how this can lead to the development of appropriate objectives and strategies to enhance operational marketing performance.

Accounting for Managers (20 credits): develops learners’ skills in preparing financial statements for a variety of organisations using a range of techniques, and that comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Business Law (20 credits): develops learners’ understanding of the concepts and principles of UK business law and the ability to apply them to practical situations.

Business Ethics (20 credits): provides learners with a broad understanding of the roles and requirements for businesses to embed ethics and incorporate social responsibility. It provides learners with an understanding of the issues surrounding corporate social responsibility and ethics from national and international perspectives. Significant emphasis is placed on the role that corporate governance plays in ensuring accountability to the owners and other stakeholders within businesses.

 Final Term- BA (Hons) in Business Management Top-Up 

Duration: 9 Months
